The Application Process
Congratulations on taking the next step to earn your graduate degree at the UNM Anderson School of Management. To receive an admission decision, you must have a complete application. We recommend you look at the admission information for your program of interest and apply when you feel ready.
How to Apply to Anderson’s Graduate Programs
If you are ready to apply to an Anderson graduate degree program, this is your place for all your application questions. Anderson utilizes a centralized application service called BusinessCAS for all of our programs. Click on the Apply Now button, which will take you to the BusinessCAS login page. Create your username and password and this will enter you into the CAS portal to complete the admission application and submit all of your documents electronically. All of your documents will be sent back to UNM for application processing.
Application Checklist
All Anderson graduate programs require these uploaded documents in BusinessCAS. If you are applying to the Master of Accounting, Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Business Analytics, or Master of Science in Project Management, these are the only required documents.
- Resume,
- Personal Statement (approximately 500 words),
- Transcripts: You may submit unofficial transcripts from every college or university attended for application review purposes, but official copies are required to be submitted by point of enrollment. Review the requirements for Domestic and Foreign transcripts.
- Applicants from the University of New Mexico only need to submit unofficial transcripts.
- All transcripts from a foreign institution will need to be evaluated.
- For non-native English speakers: English Proficiency Exam - View the requirements and exceptions. If you took the Duolingo exam, you may submit your unofficial scores to andersonapplication@unm.edu.
Additional Submissions to BusinessCAS
If you are applying to the MBA or Online MBA program, you will also be asked to submit the following:
- GMAT or GRE exam or a waiver is required for all MBA programs and optional for all other specialized programs at the Anderson School of Management. Read the MBA Entrance Exam waiver to determine if you may be able waive the GMAT/GRE exam.
- GMAT Minimum Score: 500
- GRE Minimum Score: 305 (verbal and quantitative sections only
Additional Program-specific requirements
Executive MBA
- Three Letters of Recommendation. In Business CAS, you will provide the name and email of all three recommenders
- Application Video. In lieu of an interview, we’re looking for a 2-minute video (not professionally done) that addresses these questions:
- What does “Unleash Your Potential” (the Anderson motto) mean to you?
- Why are you interested in the program?
- Why should we admit you to the program?
- What's your greatest accomplishment?
- What is your ideal work environment?
- Where do you see yourself five years from now?
MBA and Online MBA
- GMAT or GRE exam unless you meet one of the MBA Waivers. Check out our policy and apply for a waiver.
Deadlines
Complete applications are evaluated using the same criteria regardless of the deadline. Deadlines are designed for applicants to know the latest date they will receive initial notification from the Anderson School. To receive an admission decision, you must have a complete application. We recommend that you apply when you feel ready.

GMAT/GRE Waiver
The GMAT or GRE test requirement is waived for all applicants who have five years of leadership experience as a military officer with rank.
Application Fee Waiver
Active military members and military veterans can apply to waive the application submission fee. The following documents are accepted as proof:
- For active duty, reserve or National Guard: copy of orders, valid military ID or memo from unit commander on official letterhead
- For veterans (honorably discharged, retired and disabled): copy of DD214

In-State Tuition
The University of New Mexico offers in-state tuition to all active military and military veteran students.
On-Campus Support
UNM's greatest asset for veterans, active military and their families is our Veteran & Military Resource Center (VMRC). The VRMC provides support for using educational benefits and resources for success in classes. The VMRC staff includes two VA school certifying officials, a VetSuccess on-campus counselor, military-affiliated student employees, and a veterans alumni chapter. It also offers peer advising, a veterans orientation and a Veterans Transition Resiliency course.

Housing Information - Lobo Rainforest
Be part of the Anderson Graduate Living Community at Lobo Rainforest. The Rainforest offers affordable housing off-campus in Downtown Albuquerque. It is a great option for International Graduate students to be apart of a community and increase their engagement at UNM. The Rainforest offers a free shuttle service to/form the main UNM campus.

Application Requirements
What transcripts are required? (ex: official, unofficial, just degrees awarded or also classes, transcript validation)
We require official transcripts from all non-UNM institutions attended. International applicants will be required to submit official transcripts in native language and in English. Review the requirements for Domestic and Foreign transcripts.
Am I required to take the GMAT/GRE test? (and what is the minimum score?)
All of the MBA programs and the MS in Project Management (on campus) require the GMAT or GRE. MBA programs may qualify for a waiver. View the waiver policy. We have no minimum score for the GMAT/GRE requirement. Applications are reviewed holistically.
How do I know if I qualify for a GMAT/GRE waiver?
We will contact you within a week of submitting the GMAT/GRE waiver application.
What does “managerial experience” mean?
For the GMAT/GRE waiver application, one qualification is “Ten years of managerial level post undergraduate work experience”. We consider managerial experience to be managing people, budgets or projects.
How long should the statement of intent be?
This is your personal choice. We recommend you consider including your motivations for applying to the program and what qualifications you have that support your ability to succeed in the program.
What do I do for the application video? (ex: what questions do I answer, how should I dress, where do I upload it, how well-produced does it have to be?)
MBA and MS in Project Management (on campus) Applicants are required to submit a link to an application video in the application. Upload your video to a public location and copy the link for the application. It does not need to be professionally edited. Be yourself, be authentic, and film (from your phone) in a quiet location.

Application Submission
When is the application due and when will I hear back?
View all the deadlines and decision dates. By the deadline, all of the requirements must be submitted with the exception of official transcripts.
Do you give application decisions sooner?
We do. All of our decisions will be provided on a rolling basis. The published decisions dates are the final date decisions are provided.
Funding
What are the scholarship and assistantship funding options?

How much will my program cost per semester?
We have done the math for you. View the cost per program. Additionally, Executive MBA admits are required to pay a seat deposit.
